 In linguistic communication, appellation is always the first information transmit to the audience. Apt appellation will make the communication go smoothly. In different culture climate, the same appellation may have different pragmatical rules, different pragmatical scopes, and different pragmatical meanings. The difference of using appellation is easy to make misunderstanding in intercultural communication. In order to avoid the appellation pragmatic failures in intercultural communication, the difference between Chinese-English appellation should be learned. This paper based on the Kingship Term and the Address In Social Intercourse. And realizes and compares the differences between Chinese-English appellation, and understand the differences between Chinese-English culture. The Kingship Term differences are mainly developed from the following two points: pure kingship address and expansive kingship address. The former is used to relatives who call each other, and the latter is used in social occasion. The address in social intercourse can be called as the call in the social. It is the culture symbol of social structure and social relatives. In the communication, people have to bring different appellations to represent the speaker and the audience, e.g. teachers vs students, employers vs employees, governors vs publics etc. In this part of essay I expound from the following three points: the appellation of post and profession, general social appellation and name appellation. At last, this essay gets the general understanding of intercultural differences on appellation by comparing Chinese-English appellation. And this part is divided into three detail parts: the effect of family style and kin, the effect of ceremony and ethic moral, social institution and world outlook. In a word, address forms are important social linguistic issues. They have important social functions. Accurate understanding and command of address forms can lead to successful results in intercultural communication.
