Recommendations for 九份 (Jiǔfèn) and 宜蘭 (Yílán)

May 24, 2009, 07:06 AM posted in General Discussion大家好，I will be traveling to 九份 and 宜蘭 for Dragon Boat Festival (端午節 duānwǔ jié) holidays. Does anyone have suggestions for places to see and things to do?
Any suggestions are welcomed and appreciated!

May 26, 2009, 02:15 AM@calkins, I really want to give some suggestions, but I have never been to Taiwan! This 端午节，I think I'll have a trip to Hangzhou, but not for sure! :)

This isn't for Yilan,but heading further along in that direction away from Taipei,one place I really regretted running out of time to see on my trip to Taiwan was the Cingshui cliffs on the East Coast,which rise 800m above the water.Though it doesn't look that far to go,I was assured it was several hours by car due to the nature of the roads and that often the road was closed along the cliff.I did however make sure I got a window seat on the right side of the plane on my flight down to Hualien so I could check them out from the plane.Amazing scenery.Here's a pic:
As for Yilan,I have a feeling that my guidebook said it was a good place to go cycling.I think there may be tea plantations down that way.But this was 3 years ago so I may have this mixed up with somewhere else.
Have fun at the dragon boat festival;sounds like awesome fun.We'll be expecting some colourful pics from you :)

I was busy moving at the end of May, and have been lazy with my Chinese studies ever since, so I didn't see this thread until today.
So, how was your trip to 九份? I've been there twice; both times it was very crowded, but I had a good time.
Hope I didn't hijack your thread with my photos.
I haven't made it to 宜蘭 yet, though I want to. Do you have some photos you can post?
