you have chosen to receive no emails. I was going to explain it to you there,so others can still guess what I'm on about. Was that a deliberate or a default setting?

baba告诉了我答案,我觉得非常有意思!

大家可以往英语方面猜猜看。直译就可以了。

I thought you 科幻粉丝 would be excited by yesterday's special day.

To reiterate,I wanted to wish such Poddies:

May the fourth be with you

Hi bababardwan

I take my hat to the joke. That's classic. Incidentally, did you know that 五四 is actually very important in Chinese history? The question is who is playing "Darth Vader" in modern China now, hehe.

My rollover showed it as an important date ,but otherwise I was unaware of the significance of the date but read your link with interest...thanks.

just a friendly tip [because you're always so helpful with correcting our Chinese]...I think above you meant to say " I take my hat off"....I don't think it works without the "off".

Sorry, obviously I know Darth Vader but I don't quite get the connection to modern China/may 4th movement in your joke.Do you mind enlightening me ? Do you mean who has the dark side of the force or something along those lines?

Finally,as you're just replying to this now I can't help but wonder whether you received my PM 2 days ago where I linked to the wikipedia article as an explanation?

Hi bababardwan

Many thanks for the correction. Can you say "tip hat to you"?

buyong xie pengyou.

yeah, but you'd have to include the word "my":

"I tip my hat to you"

...this describes a slightly different action and I think is a little less common, but the meaning is essentially the same [an indication of paying respect].As the action of completely taking off a hat involves more movement/is a more obvious action than just tipping a hat,it gives me the vibe that it's emphasising the paying of respect more [bit like the difference between a subtle nod of the head ,and a big Japanese bow from the waist] but that may be just be my take on it...
