January 22, 2008 at 6:05 PMklgardensong, There is an option that mac users have (with the Leopard operating system) where one can toggle characters back and forth between 简体字 and 繁體字. I'm not quite sure how else to do it. by the way... Does anyone know if Macs work in China? I heard that they don't, but I wouldn't know.

January 18, 2008 at 6:16 PMMy advice for choosing a name is thus: Pick one that sounds or looks cool. Forget about the meaning unless it is vulgar (in which case, it may not be a good choice). The idea is that you will have to write and say this name thousands upon thousands of times from the point which you choose it, and if you cringe up in disgust every time you say/write it, then its not worth it to have just because you like the meaning. You want to be proud and happy and awed when you write/say it. Besides, due to the large number of homonyms, almost nobody will ever know the real meaning of your name just by hearing it.

January 18, 2008 at 6:00 PMWhen it came time to select a Chinese name, my teacher wrote out a list of some names she thought were cute or clever and let me choose. Still intimidated by the shape of Chinese characters, I chose 大朋 da4peng3 because it was so easy to write. To this day I have never met a Chinese person who hasn't giggled at my name, but they NEVER forget. My last name is 福 fu3 because my last name starts with "fu". Its kind of a cool last name because around Chinese new year, everyone is hanging big "福" signs everywhere, and I look and say "Hey! Thats my name!!"

The sentence, if it were to appear in a textbook, would probably read "那她有什么反应？“ as in "She had what reaction?" or "how did she react?" --- also, after reading my above post again, I have a few more typos (its a new program, I'm still becoming accustomed). Line Three- 再 should be 在 Line Four- 那 should be 拿 Line Five- 的 should be 得 Line Five- 为 should be 位 SORRY!!!!

They probably posted them on the internet somewhere, probably labeled "fat man eats dumplings". Not exactly a BSR, but not the typical dining experience.

January 8, 2008 at 12:02 PMAfter listening to the podcast, I think i've got a few answers to Alexyzye's questions. The little girl probably came from the tribe to let 赵露 know that here man was ok. The flute might have been some sort of hi-sign to let 建明 know that the tribe was in the vicinity, and he could go join them 建明 may have came with his girlfriend so that she would find out exactly what went down, as opposed to him just leaving her one day to go hang out with the 空落人. Great story either way

I heard in one podcast, I think it was the the COLD WILL KILL YOU one, that using the 会。。。的 construction emphasizes the realization of the ". . ." part. So, if I am correct, then ”我们会好好照顾她的“ means "we will certainly take good care of him", where as ”我们会好好照顾她“ just means "we will take good care of him" Its really just an intensification, not an indication of possession. --- Btw, I haven't listened to the podcast yet, but I am SHAKING with excitement to do so : )

From Jenny's confession of using office paper to clean to the random singing at the end, and of course the inclusion of POPCORN 爆米花, this podcast was G R E A T-- 非常好！
