Another excellent show.  So pleased that you mentioned the yanked up wife-beater technique -- beer belly required to keep it in place.  I'd also note that Chinese men aren't fans of shorts but they will roll one pant leg up -- not both, let's be clear, just one -- to beat the heat.

My masseuse often yammers about 血位. I have no idea how to translate that (pressure points, maybe?) and I don't know how they relate to blood (places where blood "collects" maybe -- seems like a silly idea, but it feels good when they're worked on).

I can tell the "teacher" is Shanghainese by how she says "捣乱" -- dao ruan instead of luan.

"xue" is a tough word for foreigners to pronounce, but John says it like a pro.

I've never heard "汗臭" but I frequently hear "狐臭" a term I've always liked: smelly like a fox (not sure of the etymology).

I was hoping this lesson would teach the Chinese equivalent of "gedundheit!"  Is it common or corny to say "一百岁" to someone who sneezes?

Never understood the appeal of Vegemite -- foul, terrible stuff.  Do Canadians eat it, Amber?

丢了西瓜, 拣了芝麻 is a great, earthy way to describe "penny wise, pound foolish."

Jenny, 你说有的人觉得易教授很庸俗但是我想最合适的词是通俗。(sorry for my bad chinese :-) ).

I think a lot of westerners living in China turn to 新疆菜 for comfort food... at least I do.

In the final reply, the girl says 咳 (hai1) before saying she really doesn't want it. Does 咳 here express some kind of exasperation? Is there a lesson on the various 叹词(tan4ci1)?
