I think maybe the translation of the characters for "6 o'clock" are missing.

You know, I'm usually pretty good at recognizing accents, but I just wouldn't have pegged you as being from Brooklyn, Maurice. Maybe you have worked on losing your accent? To my fellow Poddies, nimen juede?

very nice new voice. too bad about the jazzy music at beginning. too jarring, not conducive to studying. but anyway.....

There will be 50 expat runners from Suzhou and Shanghai going to Moganshan next weekend. The group will be organized by the Hash House Harriers of Suzhou. How do I know, you ask? My daughter is one of the organizers. I wish I could be there. Sounds beautiful.

I agree. not a nice surprise. Definitely interferes with my concentration. The charm of the conversation is plenty to keep me interested. The jazzy intro music is also jarring. pretty much 2 thumbs down on this change.

Is "buguo" pronounced with two 4th tones or a 1st and a 4th? Is it maybe one of those tone changes?

Question: In the expansion, the order of the words in the \"coincidental\" sentences are all a little different. Is this meant to teach us that we can put the \"coincidental\" phrase at the beginning or the end of the sentence? Is it meant to teach us a couple different phrases using \"coincidental\"? Or is there something special about each of these sentences that requires we use the word differently?

Regarding Jenny's comment about needing positive regulation, here in the States we of course have a lot of positive regulations called guaranteed rights. I don't think it was a dumb comment by her at all! I imagine in China, if we think about it, there are also a lot of positive regulations..

useful vocab. Useful phrases. I think I can use the information I have in this lesson to be as hip as I need to be.

Dilu, how do the Western hotels get their Chinese names? I can see how the Sheraton sounds kind of similar and Four Seasons is translated directly but for instance, how did the Marriott hotels end up being called Wanhou?
