It's really sad to see you go, Pete, your presence will be sorely missed. I agree with the comments above, Poems with Pete was one of the best things about this site while it lasted, and it's unfortunate that nothing has come to quite fill the void that it left.

A very long time ago, I came across Rilke's poem "The Panther". I read it in French and loved it, but also realized that since in the German version all phrases must end in verbs, it woulb probably have a very different rythm.
Now, years later, I've learned German, spent time in Germany as a student, and live with a German girlfriend, meaning I get to speak plenty of the language.
Never underestimate where a poem can lead you... :)
Incidentally, it seems the first link is wrong.

I agree that this is a great series, and having the PDF's presented like menues is a brilliant touch. I actually print them out and put up in my kitchen. When I'm cooking I try to describe the ingredients in chinese.
