I have visited Taiwan many times over the past 3 years mostly Taipei but also Kaohsiung, Tainan, Taichung, Hualien and Yilan. I have met lots of great people. My friends remind me of several differences in the use of certain words compared to mainland China or at least Shanghai.

Good Morning: zǎoshang hǎo (Shanghai) zǎo an (Taiwan)

Taxi: chūzūchē (Shanghai) jì chéng chē (Taiwan)

Address Taxi driver:shīfu (Shanghai) sījī (Taiwan)

They can tell I am learning from a mainland China teacher.

I am getting better at remembering to switch when I travel between Shanghai and Taipei.

They also told me that tǔdòu (potato)means peanut in Taiwan and potato is called something different (can't remember).

Anyone know of a good list of these kind of differences?

How about a lesson or Qing Wen about the differences?

I see many comments about how drivers in Shanghai drive but I always find it very organized and civil.  Maybe because I am usually just arriving to Shanghai after a week in India...  :)

Hmm, some ideas that would selfishly help me are:

A deeper dive into a dialog that might be encountered in a business meeting;

A dialog that might occur between engineers discussing a project;

A dialog about a business development person asking questions to understand a clients needs or problems;

A dialog that might occur when someone is performing training to a group;

A dialog that might occur during a simple business negotiation (not buying at the market);

More about the difference in word use between China and Taiwan. In Taiwan they do not address the taxi driver as shi1fu and do not use zao3 shang hao3 for good morning, etc... That tells them you are from China and not Taiwan...

That is enough ideas for now...

Yes, I have synched this lesson using my Android device. The audio files are available but the dialoge, vocabulary, etc... says "none found".

Are there any other lessons that might provide useful phrases for negotiations?

Our company has a "business casual" dress policy...dress pant, dress or polo shirt with dress shoes. No jacket or tie. What is business casual in Mandarin?
