So very sorry to see you go.  My first trip to Shanghai was hectic with work and other problems and I was unable to make it to CPod offices for a visit.  Of course, now that I am going back there next month I plan to do that very thing.  Unfortunately for me, Amber will not be there. :-(

Amber, you have truly touched the lives of many, you will be sadly missed as part of the wonderful CPod staff.  Evidence of this is by the number of comments to this installment of DA.

The best of luck to you in your job search and your new life in NY

I have kind of been away for awhile, and just when I think that CPod can't possibly get any better than it already is, you guys do these vids, which are great in and of themselves but to be able to see Amber "in action" so to speak makes this one a winner in my book.  真漂亮

Keep them coming.

Would it be possible to have them downloadable as mpeg's... I can't seem to find a mp4 codec that works.  Can anyone help?

Some of us still have to wait to see the delayed broadcast on NBC :(.  I'm sure that it will be the best opening ceremony ever.  大家加油!

I'm secretly rooting for China too.  I did get to watch a few of the women's volleyball, soccer, and basketball tune up games while I was in China last month and think the women's volleyball team has a good chance at gold.

I could have used this lesson a couple weeks ago when I was in Wuxi.  With my limited knowledge of Chinese at this point, it was rather interesting trying to make motions to someone that I needed a Phillips Screwdriver.  Now I will probably never forget it.  Thanks

I just finished up my first week with a Guided subscription, my teacher Helen has been wonderful.  When she assigned some Elementary lessons for me, I was a little surprised and skeptical, since I view my own abilities as an extreme Newbie.  They proved to be exactly what I need and want. It has been challenging me in a way that I don't think I would do on my own.

My experience with the Needs Analysis was similar to Light487's. I don't get a whole lot of oral practice at this point and was nervous to speak mandarin with someone who is a native speaker, but she was very encouraging.

I am excited that CPod has added this subscription level because it is something that I can afford and is a more structured learning environment than my own self studies.  I would strongly recommend it for anyone that can afford it and wants to push their skill to another level. I feel that way after only a week and can not wait to see what this journey holds in store for me next.

I am leaving for Shanghai (by myself) on the 19th, will arrive the 20th about 10PM Shanghai time (after a 15 hour flight).  I will be in the Shanghai and Wuxi areas for at least 2 weeks and am hoping to stop by the CPod studios for a chance to meet the teachers and staff that we have all come to know and love.

As always many, many thanks to the CPod staff for being in tune with what subscribers want and need.

sorry Clay, I hope you didn't take my comment to mean that I expected this lesson sooner. Actually, I didn't expect it at all. I'm sure CPod gets literally thousands of lesson topic requests each week. Whether or not it was decided to do this lesson because of my request doesn't matter. It is very beneficial to me and I love it so much when I can "connect" and get personal with a lesson such as this. Thanks a million.

I had requested this lesson some time back, because I paint - oil landscapes mostly, but have done other stuff as well. My Avatar is one of the paintings that I have done. Great lesson - I really enjoyed it, and would love to see other lessons pertaining to people's hobbies and/or cultural interests

This was really interesting, it would be interesting to do something like that, but some of us have to work for a living :(. Very interesting installment of DA, it would be nice to be able to sit down with either of them and discuss their experiences, not only in China, but other places as well. Thanks for the links to the blogs.

evahui, thanks for the link, I have tried finding a list like this for a long time. The only other sites that I have been able to find have only shown a handful. I appreciate it

Thanks so much for this lesson. I suggested doing this beore, and I will suggest it again. I think it would be a good idea to have lessons based on different chengyu. These could contain information such as, what it means, where and how it originated (if known) and what circumstances you might use them in. They certainly prove to be a way of saying a lot while actually saying very little.
