John: And today the topic is about dreams, right?

Dilu: 对， 关于做梦， 做梦

John: So that's the verb in chinese, 'to have a dream', right? Now the question is what if you want to tell someone 'I had a dream with you in it'? Like the grammar is kind of tricky, like I know in some language you say 'I had a dream with you, or something like that, in chinese, how do you say it?

John: So 梦见 means 'I had a dream and saw you', something like that?

John: So the measure word for 梦 is 个？

John: OK，so then the guy asks 梦见我在做什么？Right, so what was I doing in your dream?

Dilu: 啊，其实这个回答有点奇怪。我觉得 guys 都会说 'Oh, so you missed me?'

John: Yeah, he just wants the facts, he wants to listen to this boring dream. OK, so what is the dream?

John: All-right, so I dreamed you were playing by what?

Dilu: 一个水池，水池

John: OK, 3rd tone, 2nd tone, that's like a pool, like a pond. Is that like a man-made...

John: OK, so 水池边，so next to this little pool

Dilu: 是的， 水池旁边

John: And the guy says what?

John: OK, 'good dream' is just 好梦. What about 'bad dream'?

Dilu: 坏梦

John: What about nightmare?

Dilu: 噩梦

John: 哦，噩梦 is a nightmare

Dilu: So， 啊，中国人相信如果你梦见水这是好的事情

John: All-right, pretty straight-forward. And then what happens in the dream?

John: So 打招呼 is to like greet someone? To say hi to someone?

Dilu: 是的，跟谁打招呼。跟 someone 打招呼

John: OK, 打招呼 that's 3rd tone, and then 1st, then neutral right?

Dilu: 是，第三声，第一声，和轻声

John: All-right, then what does the girl say?

Dilu: 你不理我， 你不理我

John: OK, so 理 is kind of like 'pay attention to', right?

Dilu: 是的，那不理就是 ignore

John: OK， yeah I remember this was something that took a while for me to get, the way to say 'ignore', like ignore a person, is to use teh negative of 理

Dilu: 啊，对

John: So this is really useful, ‘不理 a person’ means to ignore someone

Dilu: 恩，而且中文里面我们不太会说你理我

John: It's often in the negative

Dilu: 对，常常是不理

John: So if you tell someone 'just ignore him' all-right, 'ignore him' how do you say that?

Dilu: 不要理他

John: Or 别理他

Dilu: 唉，是的

John: All-right, so then you're not saying 不理, you're using the negative command form, OK.

Dilu: 恩

John: So it's pretty easy, but you just got to know it

Dilu: 好，这个男的觉得很有趣，他说梦是反的， 我怎么会不理你。梦是反的，我怎么会不理你

John: So 反的，what is 反的？

John: OK， 反 that's 3rd tone, right?

Dilu: 啊，是的是三声， 反

John: And then the one that means like a 'pain', what is that again?

Dilu: 哦，你说烦啊

John: 哦，烦 that's 2nd tone

Dilu: 第二声， 对

John: Like 'annoying'

Dilu: 啊，John 你很反

John: 哈哈，all-right but this is 反的

Dilu：是的，第三声。梦是反的

John：And then he says...

John: So how could I ignore you

Dilu: 恩，他的意思是梦和 reality 是反的
