Good lesson.

I rather enjoy where the questions are "coming from". It took me a bit to catch the reference Pete made to "Bernie from Manhattan" but when I did, I had a good laugh.

My chosen surname is 萧. What is the best way to break it down? Would it be 艸肃, 草肃, or something else altogether?

mikeinewshot,

That website is great! I've been going the long way around to now. Since I don't know all the radicals by heart, it takes quite a bit of searching sometimes.

Thanks, Jenny!

I love learning little (or in this case not so little) sayings like that. I'll have to try to work it into conversation soon.

Thanks Pete.

It would seem that is yet another case of great branding there. It makes total and complete sense.

I still have two giant tubs of the bricks somewhere in my garage, sealed up.

Wonderful lesson topic. I'm one of those people that loves to put a lot of salt on just about everything. I always get the "having some fries with your salt?" comment. What would be the best way to say "I put salt on my salt"?

Not really the focal point of the lesson, but I HAVE to ask... what are the characters for LEGO?

When I was trying to choose a Chinese name, I went to the ChinesePod forums. I'd found the "standard" transliteration for Sean on the net: 肖恩. I brought this up in a post, and someone suggested an alternative to be slightly different: 萧恩. I guess it's also the family name of a hero from a Wuxia novel, which is also really neat.

I realize it may be almost going too far on the topic, but what about going into the 5 elements in relation to the zodiac; i.e. the 60 year cycle? I know the basics, and I saw signs/floats about it being the year of the fire pig at this past year's parade, but I doubt a lot of people even know anything about this. I know I was born in the year of the earth ram/sheep/goat and that makes me "double earth" or something, but I don't know much beyond that.

Hi, none of the Dear Amber episodes between this one and the "Nakedness and Thieves" episode download in iTunes. I'd really like to hear the back episodes I missed.
