November 15, 2014, 06:13 PMI remember visiting the Sex Musum when it was still in Shanghai (quite centrally located, actually, somewhere off Nanjing Lu), and I was very impressed by it. It was extremely interesting, and I think it should rather be called "Sex CULTURE museum", because it gave a lot of insight on culture and on how society regarded sex (e.g. in ancient times). "Sex Museum" sounds too sensational, that is indeed a bit 吸引眼球。
其实，我不知到国外是不是有性博物馆。 至少瑞士没有。

July 26, 2012, 06:47 AMI realized what the "你们吃个饭可真累啊" was all about when I went to a Western restaurant with a Chinese friend for the first time: 1-2 forks, left side, 1-2 knives, right side, a spoon for soup, another for dessert/coffee, various plates, a glass for water and another for wine... whereas Chinese manage a meal with a bowl, a pair of chopsticks and (if at all) a glass/cup for tea or 酒。

He came back somewhat puzzled, wondering what the representative of the Chinese delegation had meant when he exclaimed: "You know, this is like pie from the sky!"

January 04, 2011, 10:59 PMWithout having listened to the podcast yet (too late now, will have to wait until tomorrow), my personal collection of "actually" in Chinese is, apart from 其实 (the most handy one, I think):
按理说、安道理来说 (something like actually, by reasoning, as in "well actually, you would have to say/admit/consider that.....")
原来、本来 (as in e.g. "actually (originally), I wanted to become a hairdresser, but then.... (sth else happened), or actually, we had planned to spend the day at the beach, but then the weather forecast was so bad we ended up going to the movies).

I heard that in Finland (the land of the Saunas) in the old days members of the government would discuss their political matters in the Sauna. This custom apparently stopped some time in the 1970s with the arrival of the first woman in the government. Not sure if this is true, any Finns out there who know?

-> Not sure if the 人 refers to "us" or "they". I would have thought it's "they". But if it refers to "us" (our team), then the 给 might be the same as 被 。 But this might be all wrong! All I know is that the 给 often comes in at odd times.
