In the second usage of hui (as in 这次比赛你一定会赢) where it means, "will," or "going to," I don't see a clear distinction between it and yao. Could you clarify the difference between the two when talking about something that will/ isgoing to happen? Keep up the good work, qing wen is great.

Dictionary definitions indicate "terrible", the definition in the dialogue is "powerful", but I get the sense it's used to indicate a "wow" or "impressive" type of feel. Also, is there a common way that someone can say "impressive", as in "you got a 95 on that test? Impressive"?

July 30, 2007 at 3:30 PMRandom question: I know you can use kan qi lai to describe how something "looks", as long as it elicits some sort of emotion. But how would you say, "But you don't look Chinese", or "that animal looks like a dog"? Ni kan qi lai zhong guo ren just doesn't seem right.

June 20, 2007 at 3:50 PMI have some feedback for The Fix. I have no problems with the vocab in the first part. The second part with the sentences could be more helpful. Right now, an English sentence is spoken with ample time for the user to try and form the equivalent Chinese sentence. Then the Chinese sentence is spoken. The issue I have is that there should be ample time after the Chinese sentence to resay it. Currently the Fix immidiately goes on to the next sentence, which I find disrupting. I would also consider repeating the Chinese sentences twice the first time around.

May 17, 2007 at 6:48 PMI have an idea - would it be possible to give each page (dialogue, vocab, expansion, exercises) its own discussion? I feel like this would bring more focus to each discussion. Fascinating, general type discussions could be had out here, and expansion sentence, vocab, or exercise specific questions could be discussed more in detail on their respective pages. I realize this would exclude non-premium members from those discussions, but maybe there could be a workaround. Just an idea!
