Can you use 对不起 (duìbuqǐ) to get somebody's attention? For instance, if you overhear some people speaking Chinese, can you say "对不起,你们在说中文吗?" (Duìbuqǐ, nǐmen zài shuō zhōngwén ma?)

Hi guys! Could you do a Qing Wen about verbs with ...出来 (chūlái) and ...起来 (...qǐlai)? When do you use those constructions and what is the difference between them?

Regarding 海星:

This happens to be the name of one of the contestants on China's version of The Voice (中国好声音, which you can watch on Youku). 她很可爱,也唱得很好!

And in English, biologists are starting to prefer the term "sea stars" over "starfish" since they technically aren't fish. When you think about it, it makes more sense to say it the Chinese way!

Some Chinese people have single-character given names, like Yáo Míng (姚明) and Wáng Fēi (王菲).

My English name is Levi. Years ago, my college Chinese teacher gave me the name 力伟 (Lìwěi) and I've just stuck with it. What do Chinese people think? Does it sound weird? Does it seem like a real Chinese name? I know there is the Chinese astronaut Yáng Lìwěi (杨利伟), but his name has a different character for lì.

Another mistake: "zěnmale" should be "zěnmele".

什么时候回来?Shénme shíhou huílái de?

The 的 is here because this is an abbreviated 是...的 construction, right?

(你是)什么时候回来? (Nǐ shì) shénme shíhou huílái de?
