September 13, 2007 at 8:09 PMWhat's with all the "um" grunts? I'm noticing my coworker from Shanghai does that alot also. At 9 secs we get one, then another at 14, then several starting at 25 secs. So, many "ums." Cute sounding though.

October 11, 2007 at 10:24 PMon more thing: it's good to understand the habits of different cultures, but you're not expected to always play those games. for example, an american haggling with relatives over who's going to get the bill would look silly. one of the things you bring to the table as a foreigner is your different cultural expectations. again, good to know the other side, not always a requirment that you play along. need i bring up bribes to make the point?
