Cawa, I had the exact same questions when I started learning. While my tendency would have been to use xiang3 all my coworkers in China would use yao4 in the same situation. When in Rome...er...make that China...

As someone who brews their own beer...this was an interesting lesson. I'm wondering if craft beer is commonly available yet in China? When I have visited I've only been able to find the light lagers such as TsingTao, Shanghai Lager or the ubiquitous Budweiser (ugh). Oh, I forgot I did find Guiness. But other than that, my choices seemed pretty limited. Also, does anyone know the Mandarin for the following types of beer (or beer related terms)? Ale Lager Porter Stout Bock Barley Wine

Can someone explain the use of the possesive "de" after shuo1 to me? I'm not sure why we would use shou1 de instead of just shou1 here. Thanks! Mike
