For example, the passive marker: 成 (bei) is not included in two of the example sentences. I believe that 把 (ba) is substituted.

I notice in the lesson expansion sentences that 个 is also used.
Is this a case where the measure word rule isn't as strict?

"Shou" = hands
And so, to "part hands" makes perfect sense, when describing a break-up.
