The Chinese Communist Party replaced the KMT, and became the governing party. China became a socialist country, Mao Zedong’s ideal was to build China into an industrialized socialist nation.
After Mao's death in 1976, Deng Xiaoping became the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China. Under his leadership, China has developed rapidly into a socialist nation with Chinese characteristics.
In the process of modernization, Deng Xiaoping put forward the Four Modernizations.
