Riding a bike is probably the most convenient mode of transport in China. So far on ChinesePod you've used Mandarin to rent a bike and even fix a flat tire. In today's podcast we buy a bike, and bell, and lock... but don't forget to buy a helmet!

we need a lesson on getting your bike stolen and then filing the police report and then having the police come about 2 hours later and filing the report, and then hearing from the a couple of Germans that their bikes were stolen a couple of days earlier, and then telling the landlord your bike was stolen and then getting a lecture from the landlord saying that you should have not locked your bike outside so that you can think "Dude, the horse already escaped from the barn".

And the only people wearing helmets are the pizza/food delivery dudes/dudettes.

Hi miantiao

Is "脚踏车" (jiao3ta4che1, a bicycle) commonly used in 四川 (Sichuan)？ Semantically, the word “脚踏车” makes more sense thant "自行车" does！

PS. A bicycle is "自转车" (zi4zhuan4che1, self-rotating vehicle) both in Korean and Japanese.

babyseats for bikes in china. i've often wondered about the risks parents take, either on bicycles or scooters. and i've often wondered about accident stats. i think i'd walk my child to school, to the market, wherever.

just an aside, i am at a wangba, and learning some really 地道脏话 from the bloke across the row. he's really going right off, at a computor game, he's going to 操 this, and 干 that, with particlar reference to somebody's mother's bi, and directions on how to get there quickly
