It’s been established you like your city, but why exactly? In this podcast, you will learn how to compare two things using Mandarin Chinese; in this case, cities. The more comparisons you can make, the smarter you sound. And the smarter you sound, the more you like us. And the more you like us, the better the Christmas gift we get from you. See how that works?

David
Absolutely faaaaabulous! This was a really integrated packed lesson. It may be hard for a basic level learner, but they should listen carefully as its got lots and lots of good stuff in it! Being a bit more advanced it really has enough meat in it to make me want to listen a few times and to use your phrases.

Thank you for taking some moments to go over the grammar terms-I will try to say 形容词 xing2 rong2 ci2 adjective more often now!

I reallllly liked the mix of 'easy' and 'hard' vocabulary. The easy being typical 'beginner' lingo like last year and year-after-next versus words like modernazation being the toughies. Actually you two make all the words 'eaaazy'.

I will also use 认为 ren4wei2 think, consider, opinion more often now as I'm a bit tired of using 因为 yin1wei4 because and 我觉得 wo3 jue2de I think.

我认为你们的教中文的方法比别的非常好！ 这些chinesepod学汉语的过程太好玩和真有意思。感谢你们。 送你们快乐！
In my opinion your method of teaching Chinese is especially better than other methods! The Chinesepod process for learning Chinese is fun and really interesting. I'm grateful. Cheers, lots of luv to you all!

John
I do get the gist of the lesson--前年 is the year before last, and its 去年 is last year, which 并不是太难, but I can't quite get all the words around that--what I hear around 4:20 is:

今天我们需要学(那一些?)..???..第一个词..???...并不是太难, 是"去年"
我.... 去年...告诉大家......(说法?).."前年"

Likewise for noun, verb and adjective. I get the definitions, 但是说明一点太快, 也我不听得懂.

Is that OK, or should I be able to understand more?

Thank you *so much* for pointing out the interjections---I knew nothing of 哪，　and could probably had spent quite a while getting lost in a dictonary over it :-) This real-world vocab is good stuff that really separates chinesepod from other courses I've tried. Any other "Survival Chinese" tips you have would be very much appreciated.

那些　生词，
I *thought* I was hearing sheng1ci4, and kept thinking it should be 新词---I don't see 生词 in my dictionary (though I don't have my *good* one with me).

The place where I'm pretty totally lost right now is at 07:45, the sentence between
"我比你高. "
and
"could you give us the 3 words for noun, adjective and verb..."

The rest I might be able to struggle through with enough repetition (though any help is most welcome :-) ).

I would like to make a plea to Jenny for a little 慢慢说 during the Western holiday season, when I'll have less time for study; I don't want to fall too far behind, but I also want to understand everything she's saying.
