<p>In German Grünschnabel [green beak] is a "greenhorn."</p>
<p>Then there is "Green behind the ears." This is a variation of "Wet behind the ears." Both mean immature and inexperienced. And, yes, "Dry behind the ears," means experienced, and mature.</p>
