Help with lesson storage

November 05, 2007, 09:15 PM posted in General DiscussionI am leaving my computer for a week or two, I will be traveling. Is there any way I can still put lessons into my iPod without having to erase everything I already have in my iPod for changing "libraries" in "iTunes"? Thanks!

November 06, 2007, 10:43 AMHi Kevin, I think I know what you mean, but I don't know any way to solve it. However, if you stock up your iPod with lessons from the archives before you leave, you should be able to charge it on another computer without any problems if you set the other person's iTunes to "update manually." I'm not a techie, though, so you may want to read further instructions on how that works. There are lots of great lessons in the archives, so there should be more than enough to listen to during the weeks you are gone. :- ) Hope this helps you a bit! Have fun!

November 06, 2007, 12:47 PMThanks, but I am not sure yet which lessons I want, and I still have to wait to upgrade, because I am in Free mode. :))

November 06, 2007, 03:51 PMGotcha, yeah there's no way that i know of to sync two computers to one ipod... unless you just move all the cpod stuff to the other computer via hard drive, or subscribe to the public feed on the other computer, download a bunch of lessons, and combine it that way.

November 07, 2007, 10:03 AMKevin, if I understand your need correctly, you can save any of the mp3 files to a directory in the computer you are on and then transfer to ipod manually using the ipod software. Before I set up my feed I used to load files this way from several computers at home and at work by just drag and drop basically. itunes does not even get involved - in fact I had not loaded it yet. Or you can just listen to lessons on the computer. Good luck.

November 06, 2007, 01:55 AMYeah, but I think you might not understand me correctly. When I put my ipod pn a new pc, it says that you have to erase to be able to put new songs on the ipod from that computer. But thanks anyway!

November 07, 2007, 01:44 PMKevin - it will be on the ipod. You save from website to computer then from computer to ipod manually. I do it all the time. It will go to different directory on ipod than the auto feed but it will be there for you to use. You will just have to experiment.

November 06, 2007, 12:18 AMi would selectively drag what you want to playlists. after you've listened to the podcasts, they end up in a folder under artists called chinesepod.com. from there you can drag to create new playlists. like you can make an entire playlist of newbie fixes, for example. i hope that helps. jcw
