Verb modification

漫漫地走 is the verb modified always doubled? Or is this just coincidental that most times this is so?
Also I'm not sure I'm clear if there is a difference of meaning between this and 走得慢
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

October 08, 2010, 06:59 AMIn 慢慢地走，慢慢 is "adverbial modifier", we can use it as a suggestion：别着急，我们慢慢（地）走吧。Do not worry, let's walk slowly.
In 走得慢, 慢 is "complement", we can say: 他走得慢，我们等他吧。He walked slowly, let's wait for him.
