Currently, only the English and Japanese versions of wikipedia have articles on Chinesepod. Both seem to be slightly dated. Nevertheless, the exist and can be looked up and everything. Unfortunately, a German version that I tried to edit was quickly erased some time ago - obviously due to my lack of experience in writing encyclopedic articles. Maybe, we could add articles in French, Spanish, CHINESE and give a second try at a German version etc.

I think I'd like to try a Chinese version, it would probably need a lot of correction though.

Looks like you need to know the Chinese coding to get it to work properly as well.

I think some help by Chinese natives would be greatly appreciated! We need to be quite quick to avoid having it deleted - as happened to the German article.

Was it permanently deleted? I better make a backup copy.

It seems there isn't a 'radio show' info template on the Chinese site. Not sure how to get the pictures to work either, I guess you have to upload them again locally to zh.wikipedia.org

Here is the current code, just in case. 《中文播客》(ChinesePod) is a daily language course 播客 and accompanying website that offers lessons in 普通话. The service was founded in 2005 by Ken Carroll, Hank Horkoff and Steve Williams. It is the flagship product of Praxis Languages Ltd.. Its primary goal is to teach spoken 普通话 to its listeners. ==概述== 中文播客 provides free daily 播客, with an accompanying text expansion exercises and other extensive tutoring aids available to paid subscribers or "premium subscribers". It is based in 上海, 中国 and hosted mostly by local 上海人朱琦,爱尔兰人凯恩·卡罗尔 and 美国人约翰·帕斯登. The free daily 播客 range in difficulty from "菜鸟" to "媒体" level and has an average of ten to twenty minutes lesson time. Users are also encouraged to interact with the 中文播客 hosts and 中文播客 listeners around the world on their website and in the forums. Topics can vary from asking specific lesson questions to requesting content for future podcasts. A March 8, 2006 NPR article cited 中文播客 as the 3rd most popular podcast show in 中国 with over 10,000 visitors a day . As of January, 2007, Yahoo! Podcasts lists 中文播客 5th in their most popular podcasts section . 中文播客 also made Time Magazine's Top 25 Podcasts of 2006, ranked 10th. In early 2007, 中文播客 launched a similar website and podcast for those who want to speak Spanish, named SpanishSense.Ken Carroll (2007-03-13). Web 2.0 and Learning Spanish Grammar. blogs.SpanishSense.com. Retrieved on 2007 April 14.When SpanishSense started as a project of Praxis Language Ltd., some say that the name would be SpanishPod to follow the traditional "Pod" as in ChinesePod. But the team said that SpanishPod has been registered already as a domain, hence, they named it SpanishSense instead. As of February 15, 2007, 中文播客 has a total of 500 lesson podcasts. ==播客== ===级=== ChinesePod's main target is to teach spoken 普通话 to its listeners. For the listener's convenience, there are several levels of difficulty, from Newbie 菜鸟 (as the easiest) to Media 媒体 (as the hardest). Between the levels, the dialogue becomes progressively harder, and the particular host(s) transition from 英文 to fluent 普通话. Each show usually starts with the sound of plucking a Chinese traditional instrument and the hosts' greetings, in English, and then a Chinese or English conversation, and then proceeds to the dialogue of the day. Afterwards, the hosts discuss the dialogue's interpretation and structure and provide context for the new vocabulary used in the dialogue. Then the dialogue is repeated once more. * 菜鸟 - This stage is the easiest of all. It focuses on first-time learners of 普通话. The dialogue is repeated three times. This lesson is hosted by Ken Carroll and 朱琦 with English conversations. * 初级 - This stage is slightly more difficult than Newbie 菜鸟. It uses more complex yet simple Chinese words. The dialogue is repeated three times. This lesson is still hosted by Ken Carroll and 朱琦 with English conversations. * 中级 - This stage begins the capability of the listener to understand the given Chinese dialogue without English interpretation. The dialogue is repeated once with fast conversation. This lesson is hosted by John Pasden and 朱琦 with Chinese conversation and a little bit of English. * 中高 - This stage deals with more complex and more difficult Chinese words and with more cultural backgrounds than the early stages. The dialogue is repeated once with fast conversation. This lesson is hosted by John Pasden and 朱琦 with Chinese conversation and less use of English. * 高级From its past URL zh.chinesepod.com (Chinese Language only) that started in July 2006, the Advanced (高级) and Media (媒体) are now merged into the main site when V3 was launched . - This stage has advanced vocab introduced and used. It tackles different Chinese-relevant issues and events. The dialogue is repeated once with rapid conversation. This lesson is hosted by 朱琦 and various hosts (Aggie Xiang or Xiao Xia) with full Chinese conversation. * 媒体 - The "媒体" level discusses real Chinese publications, usually news articles. There are no dialogues here but has extensive discussion. This stage is hosted by 朱琦 and various hosts. ===额外=== Besides teaching spoken 普通话 to its listeners, 中文播客 also broadcast programs all about special insights on China (especially Shanghai) and the latest topics on the website of ChinesePod or 中文播客 itself. * News & Features * Dear Amber * Movie Madness * 请问 ==呈献者== The presenters of the Chinespod podcasts are drawn from its management, academic and production staff. Bazza: If wikipedia guys deem the entry to be rubbish, i.e. not complying to encyclopedia standards, things will be classified as Articles for Deletion (AfD) according to rules at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion and eventually deleted...

Well I've starting, I'm going to need a lot of help I think. http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E4%B8%AD%E6%96%87%E6%92%AD%E5%AE%A2 Not even sure how to link it to the English page.

with all due respect Bazza, you may leave the translation to a native or near-native. You just can't translate that way, I mean take the English copy and translate one sentence at a time. Well, I couldn't - my 2 cents based on some translation between French and English, but I'd say much more so between English and Chinese.

If anyone wants to help us update the English entry, that would be much appreciated. I don't think we should be doing it (too biased), and since we're in China, we can't do it without a proxy anyway, which Wikipedia doesn't allow (for security reasons). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ChinesePod

I better not do it either cause they'll probably delete the whole page...

Bazza: As fas as I know, older pages will not be deleted that easily. If there are no major violations of rules and no general restructuring, then the article will remain alive. Only new articles undergo a certain review process and get deleted that rapidly. You don't want to rewrite the whole thing, anyway, do you?
