Looking for some good Chinese TV series

Hi everyone!

Since there wont be any new episodes of House M.D until next season, I find myself without any good shows to watch. It would be great if I could combine my Chinese studies with the entertainment of watching a tv show. 

The problem is the lack of high quality Chinese tv shows. 

I began to watch 亮剑 last year, but because of the unrealistic action sequences and poor effects, I didnt stick with it. I also managed to watch the whole season of 蜗居, although I didnt like it much. 

 

Anyways, do you guys have anything to recommend?

This is the show.. but not sure where you can by the companion books. I haven't done a lot of investigating as it is available at the store (on back order).. so there wasn't any need for me to look further.

I do.. I do.. I just can't, for the life of me, remember the name. There's a DVD set that actually now comes with companion learning books for the TV show. It's a proper TV show that was essentially about the daily life of a (modern) Chinese family.. It was recommended to me by the shop owner of a place I get my Chinese reference material from here in Sydney but she didn't have volume one, so I have it on back order.

I'll try to find out the name of it and get back to you. It may not be "Stargate" or "NCIS" or whatever.. but I think that "daily life" stuff is more readily accessible to the learner.
