Keyword Searches on ChinesePod

December 13, 2010, 12:34 AM posted in General DiscussionUnless I am mistaken, while it is possible to keyword search through the lesson titles, it is not possible to search through the dialogue texts themselves.
For example, I would find it very useful to be able to search for all examples of the character 只 in phrases and sentences to get a real feel for how this useful little word is used in different contexts.

December 13, 2010, 03:30 AMI think what Catherine has just described is the best way to get to lessons that contain the word in question. To go straight to phrases or sentences you can also click on tools and go to the glossary to see sample sentences:

。。。I think there's 19 examples of usage there. I guess the grammar guide will likely have something also. Good luck mate. :)

Thanks so much for asking this question! I didn't know I could search the lesson dialogues and vocab. :)

December 13, 2010, 03:18 AMYou can in fact search dialogs for the character 只. Here's how you can do it:
(1) Enter the character or phrase you're searching for in the search box on the top right of any page (make sure you're searching through "lessons," not community or glossary.
(2) When you're taken to the search page, on the top right, click "expand search"
(3) Check the boxes you'd like included in the search (in your case, I'd choose "lesson dialog and vocabulary."
(4) For 只, I received 47 pages of results by doing it this way
I hope this helps! If you have further questions, just let us know.
