December 16, 2010, 07:16 AM posted in General DiscussionI'm reading this Taiwanese book and came across "䜌蟲“ (luanchong?) which appears to be a kind of bug similar to a grasshopper. The first character is actually written with the "mouth" taking up the entire bottom. I cannot find this word in my dictionary or even Chinese wikipedia! Yet here it is in a children's book. How can this be?

December 16, 2010, 08:35 AMI also found 松蟲 "songchong" which appears to be a "pine bug" and again is some kind of grasshopper not found in my dictionary or Chinese wikipedia. Are China and Taiwan lacking in entomologists? Maybe there is a niche field here...
