What is the difference between 全部 and 整个 ?

全部 generally means "all of (them)," 'them' being a quantity, more than one.

整个 generally means "the entire (something)," 'something' being one thing, i.e. 100% of of a single thing. Note: when 整 is followed by 个, there is an implied 一 there.

Or so I have it in my head. I kind of feel that there might be some grey area shared by these two, but I'm not sure off hand.

OK, what you have described is what I previously understood as the difference between 所有 and 整个. So I have to ask now, what is the difference between 全部 and 所有 ?

As far as I know they are about the same. I seem to recall some minor differences, but I can't remember. I think there might be a qingwen on this.

Does Chinese Pod have anything to add? 3 words now: 全部, 整个 and 所有. I had the difference between 整个 and 所有 explained recently, so how does 全部 fit in?

Both 整 and 个 go hand in hand, the same logic applies to 所有.

While 全 can be used separately, eg: 全中國. (=The entire/whole China).   eg:全世界.

全部 generally has the same meaning as 所有, like 所有人 and 全部的人.
