Writing Chinese Characters

Newbie here, please forgive me! I just joined ChinesePod last week and tried my first quiz and failed because I wrote my answers in Pinyin instead of the Chinese characters. So... how do I write in the Chinese characters? :(

Thank you for any help!! (I really love this site and am very enthusiastic to learn Chinese, but I don't want to fail the quizzes just because I wrote in pinyin instead of the characters.)
