John: Hi, you're listening to an Upper Intermediate lesson. This is Chinesepod and I'm John.
Dilu: Hello and welcome to Chinesepod's Upper Intermediate course. I'm Dilu.
John: And today we're talking about extreme weather and pollution, right?
Dilu: Yes. Recently, this phenomenon is very widespread. Furthermore, everybody is relatively concerned about this kind of phenomenon, and that is air pollution.
John: Yeah. Also, particularly strange weather.
Dilu: Uh huh, because the pollution is very serious, so the weather is comparatively strange.
John: OK, let's listen to the dialogue.
Dilu: OK.

Dilu: Now, let's take a look at this "鬼天气"
John: OK, this 鬼天气 is saying "strange weather" or...
Dilu: Ah, it's not, it's not. 鬼天气 just means terrible weather, really bad weather.
John: Oh, "鬼something" always means that the something is not good?
Dilu: Yes, I don't want to do such terrible/bad work, this is such a terrible thing, I don't understand
John: 鬼 girlfriend, does that work?
Dilu: Ah, no, hahaha. You can only use for a non-living thing.
John: Ah, only things and not people.
Dilu: Yes
John: OK
Dilu: Now, this terrible weather one minute is 16 degrees, the next minute is 25 degrees and then 7 degrees...

Agree mate. I knew she was referring to living things, but having only picked-up 'shen' instead of 'sheng', I convinced myself it must be 身 as in body/life.

DL:极端天气来得越来越频繁了
JP: 极端是…
DL: 极端天气指的是要么很冷的天气要么很热的天气
JP: 这个极端就是 “extreme”
DL: 没错
JP: OK, something你刚说越来越频繁了是吗?
DL: 对. 频繁表示频率很高很经常
JP: 频繁就是”frequent”
DL: 是的
JP: 好的然后你刚说的那个频率就是”frequency”
DL: 对
iaing
Rough, quick translation -- a discussion of "extreme" and "extreme weather", and then clarification on usage of "frequent" and "frequency".
DL: “Extreme weather comes more and more frequently”
JP: “极端”(extreme) means..?
DL: Extreme weather means (is indicated by) either very cold or very hot weather.
JP: (So) this “极端” is “extreme”
DL: Right
JP: Ok, so you just said “more and more 频繁(frequent)” , is that right?
DL: Correct, “频繁(frequent)” means the frequency (频率) is very high, very often
JP: (So) 频繁 is “frequent”
DL: Yes
JP: Ok, so that word you just said “频率” is “frequency”
DL: Correct
