Flashcard Feature on CPOD

I know that users can export and use Anki, but Anki sucks. I've never been sucessfull at loading a vocabulary list into Anki, because it's so damn complicated. Whenever I am able to get a list into Anki, either the pinyin or Chinese characters don't show up. In short, I hate Anki with a passion, and I would definitely purchase a longterm subscription on Chinesepod if this feature was here.

Can you give a short summary of how to export to Pleco?

bobbie_b,
after you have created the vocabulary list in CPod, go to Tools / vocabulary manager. You have to scroll down the page a bit to get past the ads, and you will find yet another box called "Tools" on the right hand side with a link called "export vocabulary." Click on that and the last choice is "Export Export Pleco 2.0 XML
Import into the newest version of Pleco software. " This is the one that I use. If you are using an older device / legacy software you might choose "Export Export PlecoDict 1.0", I don't know. I use Firefox as my browser, and at this point after I click the link to " Export Pleco 2.0 XML" I get a dialog box with a default of "Save File" and I click "OK." The file name depends on how many similar files you have managed previously. Then from your handheld device launch Pleco and go to flashcards / import cards / import from computer. Note that for this to work both your computer and your handheld have to be on the same Wi-Fi network. You will be shown a url and you have to type this in to your computer's browser. Then you have to locate where the file that you save from the first step is. If you get an upload successful message then you go back to your handheld device and with Pleco go to step 2, "import cards" Choose the correct file and it should import it. You can check it by running a flashcard testing session and it will be a sub-category within ChinesePod in the list of Pleco flashcards.

February 05, 2012, 07:28 PMIt would be nice not to be required to use a mobile device. And skritter doesn't serve the purpose.
Also, whenever I try to use the audio on CPod flashcards, it freezes on the third flashcard, trying forever to download the audio.

February 05, 2012, 05:35 PMHave you tried Pleco or Skritter? Both work well with Chinese Pod for spaced repetition learning. Exporting to Pleco is a bit complex, but worth learning how to do. Skritter is easier, but it is a writing program, not a flash card program.
