Hi there, I am doing an exercise sheet and even though I understand the words, I don't really understand the meaning of this sentence and how to solve ...have to choose where to put 连 and translate:

他A怕着女儿低声B说着C他自己D都不明白的安慰活。

Can someone explain?

I think this is using the 連...都 sentence pattern.

I guess the 連 goes in C...

I am not sure on the exact translation of the sentence though.

oh, I see, actually I did not come across this structure yet..I found some sample sentences in the "glossary" and a Qingwen on it! Thanks for the hint!

so after listening to the Qingwen...I agree with C...but also still have trouble to translate... "He said in a low voice, being afraid of his daughter (??), that even he does not understand the comfort of living" (what ever that is??).. Can someone else give it a try??
