88groups Bug

January 01, 2008, 02:23 PM posted in General DiscussionHappy New Year everyone!
Not sure if I should post this here, but I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered the same bug when trying to publish a new lesson to 88groups.
I've created a new lesson, then I click on "My Lessons" to publish it and it takes me to the following error page:
http://88groups.com/admin/portfolio
...with the following error message:
We're sorry, but something went wrong.
We've been notified about this issue and we'll take a look at it shortly.
I've been receiving this since early yesterday (12.31).

January 03, 2008, 04:55 PMoh, and while you're about it, seeing at a glance when exactly Published lessons are scheduled for release - that would be a lot more convenient than having to go click on every individual entry to find out.

January 01, 2008, 09:14 PMactually, I just tried to create a lesson and got the same error message you mentioned... I guess there's a problem with their server, hope it gets fixed tomorrow.

January 01, 2008, 08:02 PMThanks for the feedback goulniky. I've published 5 or 6 lessons before this without any issues, but since yesterday I can't. I've sent an e-mail to 88groups, so hopefully they'll be able to resolve it soon.

January 02, 2008, 01:40 AMCalkins & Goulniky, Looks like you were right Goulniky, the problem is that admin pages aren't forcing you to log in if you're not logged in, but rather just throwing the error. I'm going to fix that now, so that it redirects you to the login page if you're not logged in. If the problem persists, or shows up when you're already logged in, please let me know.

January 02, 2008, 02:58 AMJohn, Thanks again for your help. I'm still getting sent to the error page. I've tried the following: - logging out...logging back in - logging out...clearing cache...close/reopen browser...log back in. - tried in Safari, Netscape, and IE. Still the same result. Brent

January 03, 2008, 02:58 PMI'm still unable to publish lessons. I'm leaving town Friday morning (CST) for 10 days...I'd love to be able to publish my New Year's lesson before leaving. Thanks, Brent

January 03, 2008, 04:48 PMJohn, bug aside, there's one very disfunctional thing I'd like to see fixed is having to go from Create Lesson to My Lessons in order to Add to Group. This is an extremely time-consuming step (in my case it certainly is) before going to Schedule in order to Publish. We should be able to Add to Group directly from either Create Lesson or Schedule. puleeze !!

January 01, 2008, 07:05 PMI had a similar problem with group archive when I first started 2 weeks ago but I don't recall having difficulty publishing my first lesson. I've since published close to 50 without any major problem, but I did hit a number of glitches - the whole workflow is a lot more complicated than needs be, but John said they were rethinking it.
