WWFChina & Carbon Offsetting for Travel to the Olympics

I just discovered the webpage of WWF China (http://www.wwfchina.org/) and it's initiative for Green Olympics in China (http://www.wwfchina.org/greenolympics).

Is anyone planning to travel to China for the Olympics? I have only once (last year) done some carbon offsetting for inter-European flights and was slightly disappointed by just paying money, getting a receipt and that was that. It's probably the same thing with donations to charity.

Nevertheless, I'd regard carbon offsetting by the legions of athletes travelling to China for the Olympics as at least a step in the right direction.

I'd also be happy if CPod would pass on some of it's revenues from my subscription to charity in China. Obviously, I am thinking of green projects, AIDS etc.

Btw: Sorry, if I am bothering anyone with this slightly off topic post ...

Ok. How about a lesson on panda protection, then? Or is everyone more into China's Sudan connection because of Darfur and Spielberg?
