D: 嗯。一般产假结束回去上班 你的同事都会跟你说: 你恢复得很好 ！ 你恢复得很好 ！

J: OK, so the verb here is...

D: 恢复, 恢复 - 第一声和第四声。

J: first tone fourth tone, 恢复 means "to recover", right ?

D: 对, 但是这里说的是她的身材恢复得好。

J: OK, so like when you're pregnant you're feeling fat and maybe [took] quite a few pounds and so you gonna reinsure that now that the baby is born you're still looking good.

D: 嗯。你恢复得很好 ！

J: So this 恢复 can it also be used for like a real sickness ?

D: 可以。生病可以恢复得很好。但是这儿, 她觉得她自己胖了很多。胖了很多。

J: OK, so this girl feels like that she has gotten a lot fater. How do we say that ?

D: 胖了很多。 胖了很多。

J: So in English we'd probably say something like: Oh no I've gained a lot of weight, but in Chinese it's : I've gotten a lot fater, 胖了很多。

D: 对, [变]胖了很多。你还可以说: 哦,这个小男孩儿高了很多, 帅了很多。

J: So he's gotten a lot taller and more handsome.

D: 对。

J: So you really have the feeling of a 妈妈.

D: 对, 很有什么什么的感觉。

J: Alright, 很有妈妈的感觉, what does that mean really ?

D: 就是你看上去很像一个妈妈。

J: OK. So you're no longer dressing like a hep young girl, you're trying [??] boys, you look more functional...

J: OK, got it. So you can also switch out 妈妈 for other words, right ?

D: 对, 你可以说: John, 你很有男人的感觉。

J: Thank you.
