John: Hi guys, I'm John, this is an Intermediate lesson on ChinesePod.
Dilu:
John: 维修 - 2nd tone, 1st tone - this refers to some kind of repair.
Dilu: 是的。And most of the time you'll hear 修 instead of 维修,因为维修听上去比较正式。
John: So 维修 is a somewhat more formal form of just 修 which means to fix something.

John: So its formal, it means to call like a company.

John: So do what to somebody?
Dilu:
John: So 派, 4th tone, that means to 'send' someone'.
Dilu: 对。
John: It typically is send them on a mission to do something.
Dilu:
1st tone again, that's 'fix'. You'll notice that the customer service rep used 维修, and then the actual person making the call uses 修 - they're being less formal.
Dilu: 是的。

Dilu:
John: 出现 - 1st tone, 4th tone - this means 'to emerge', 'to appear'. So 'what problem has appeared in your life?'.
Dilu:
John: So its kind of formal. To be less formal you could say:
