John: Hi guys, this is ChinesePod, Intermediate lesson, I'm John.

John: Today we've got a lesson related to drinking. This is a topic that's becoming more and more of an issue in China, and even the idea of designated drivers in catching on.

John: Some coworkers, they're treating a client to a night out of drinking.

John: One of these guys is named 'Fatty'.

Connie:

4th and neutral. Is it normal to call a coworker 胖子?

Connie:

John: So its not rude?

Connie: 不是。

John: Different culture. What does he say to 胖子?

Connie:

John: 醒醒 is 'wake up'. Can you just say '醒'?

Connie:

John: Can you say

Connie:

John: Let's listen to the dialog.

Connie:

John: 'He woke up' - on his own. When you're telling someone to wake up, you usually say ...

Connie:

John: 胖子 wants to keep drinking.

Connie:

Drink what drink'.

Connie:

John: This is a bit of a critical 'whats wrong with you' response. "Drink? What?
