Chinese Government and Party?

Reading Chinese news about politics is very difficult because of the many 简称 (i.e. 两会) and specialized vocabulary surrounding bodies of government and divisions of power in the State and Party. I'd love to hear an episode about Chinese politics and the current leadership. It would be supremely helpful to have a primer on China's very complicated political system!

Thanks a bunch!

Good point. I think so. No matter where the boundary is, politics is part of our life. We will figure out some great stuff on this topic in near futre.

Would be fun to hear about the alternative party requirement.  I am told that roughly 20% of all government jobs have to be given to members of alternative parties (just never the top job in a city).  Some people claim it's actually beneficial to be in an alternative party if you want to rise quickly, because they have to fill the quota.  Would be interested in hearing what parties are there, and how this works.
