Vocabulary and text - format change: Firefox issue solved

I notice you have changed the format of the vocabulary text pages for lessons.

This has had two effects on me.  The is positive in that I now can use Firefox to play the sound in these lines (there are previous posts on this issue).

The second is an irritation.  For the last 2 years or so I have been copying the text and the vocabulary into word files for my own manipulation.  I copied the text page this way specifically to avoid having pinyin and translation close to the characters so that I could practice reading.  I now no longer can select and copy with this new format

Mike, I agree that it's annoying to have to put the text in a Flash container. Unfortunately, this is the best way to solve a bug which has been affecting a lot of users. The problem is that when there are more than 15 individual Flash players on one page, the audio stops working (sometimes). This is a big issue, because premium customers need access to the audio. If Adobe fixes the bug in Flash which is causing all the trouble, then maybe we can go back to the old way of displaying audio. Does anyone else have thoughts?

Mike, Probably not the most ideal or efficient way to do it, but you could do the following: - save vocabulary from the lesson. - go into your vocab. manager and copy and paste from there.

John, With this new change, is there anyway to have the option to view (and save) the vocabulary in traditional characters? It still doesn't make sense that you can get the dialogue, expansion, and lesson PDF in traditional, but not the vocabulary. Thanks, Brent

One other bummer about the flash-based vocabulary, is that you can't use the ChinesePera-kun tool on the characters.

Brent, You couldn't save vocabulary in traditional characters from the vocabulary page before, either. That's one of the limitations of the traditional character plugin. To do that, you should use "click to add" from the dialogue or expansion pages.

Sorry John, I should have been more clear. I know that we couldn't save traditional from the vocabulary section before. I've saved trad. characters from the dialogue and expansion sections, but it's more time-consuming and not all of the vocab. is there all the time. I'm just wondering why the vocabulary section is the only section that can't be viewed/saved with traditional, and if there'd be a way to do so using the new Flash model. Currently, my vocab. manager is a hodgepodge of simplified and traditional characters. It's not the worst thing in the world, but I think it's something that should eventually be worked out...if it's not currently in the works. Thanks!

Brent, OK, I see what you mean. I agree that it would be much better to have more complete options with regards to characters. I'll talk to Dave and see what we can do...
