Listen & Type Exercise

This new exercise is great...perfect for reinforcing tones.  The only problem I'm having is that it doesn't recognize characters, only pinyin.  When I type characters, I always get 0/5.  When I type pinyin, I always get 5/5.

 

Is there something I'm doing wrong, or does it only recognize pinyin?

I can't even type in characters in the box.

Bazza, how do you normally type characters? I use the built-in IME on my mac. However, when I type pinyin in the exercise, a little window pops up at the bottom of my monitor, showing the characters. It's small and easy to miss, so maybe you just missed it.

I use 紫光华宇拼音输入法 ;) It shows the usual popup thingy but nothing appears in the box, it does the same thing on facebook poker, you can copy and paste characters in but not type them directly. I'll just check if that works on the exercise.... Yep, it will copy and paste in but it doesn't recognise it as a correct answer. It does accept pinyin whilst in character view.
