Anyone familiar with the area around Wuxi?

Well, I'm finally in the process of getting things together for a trip to Wuxi for work.  I was curious to see if there is anyone who knows much about the area.  Best hotels, restaurants and such.  I will probably be there for two weeks initially and since I will be there for business, will probably only get some real sight seeing done on the weekend or for only a couple hours in the evening.

Any insights or points of interest that someone can provide would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Nobody has any input for me? Well, I guess I will just have to try my luck with hotels and hope that I can get one close to where I am going for work. As for the sightseeing, I guess I will just have to ask the locals.

jimkahl we have a plant in wuxi but I have never been. I do have a Chinese coworker who commutes to wuxi every weekend so I will ask her about sight seeing. I wouldnt ask locals for hotel advice. They dont typically stay at hotels and I have found they have a different standard as well. Better to ask a traveler but if I get any info on sight seeing I will post for you. In the meantime try this http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Asia/China/Jiangsu_Sheng/Wuxi-997781/Things_To_Do-Wuxi-BR-1.html

jimkahl, I did ask for you and here is the response from China: Hi Bob, Wuxi is famous for Tai lake (太湖), so two parks beside the Tai lake are worth visiting, one park is Yuan Tou Zu (鼋头渚), the other one is Li Yuan (蠡园), Li Yuan is also famous for a old story, do you 4 prettiest women in China history? long long ago, one pretty woman (西施) lived with his lover 范蠡 (also very famous in history) in Li Yuan. Another park is Xi Hui Park (锡惠公园), one famous emperor of Qing dynasty had ever been there, he copied one part of Xi Hui in Beijing, and there is "天下第二泉" in it. Close to Wuxi, there are some famous grottos in Yixing(宜兴), that is a county, belongs to Wuxi City, and one hour by car

RJ. Thanks for the link and for the forwarded data from your friend. That helps. I hadn't actually planned to as locals about hotels, just sightseeing and restaurants. I have heard that Tai lake is very beautiful and I do know that there are a couple of hotels on or near the lake, but I'm not sure how far away they are from the plant my employer has there (康明斯). I will probably just have to see if I can get a decent map of the area and see where the plant is in relation to some of the hotels. I'm hoping to get one that is within walking distance of the plant.
