Can anyone help our Casie?

Casie needs some help finding an internship that she needs to complete for college credit.  She would never think of asking for herself, so I am reaching out for her.  She has helped us all in so many ways, it would be great if someone had a connection out there for her.  She lives in Fuzhou in Fujian Province.  Something in international trade where she could utilize her English skills would be ideal.  But we need to act fast.  The internship should ideally run from mid-April to the end of June.  So if anyone has any connections out there, you could send Casie a message.  I know this is not what this message board is all about, so please forgive me, but we are the community that would be most likely to help her because we know how special she is. Thank you.

Cassie, what is your background? Degree, major, other experience? What kind of work do you hope to do? -RJ

Cassie, I see you are correct, but I would ask anyway. Send Hank, Ken, John, and John B a note and a resume. You never know what is possible if you dont ask. They already know who you are. This is an advantage. The job hunt is no place for humility. -RJ

P/s: For what it's worth, I've just pointed cassie to this link which has some of the best c.v. tips (and examples!) that I've seen for undergraduates: http://www.careercenter.ilstu.edu/students/marketing-yourself/resume.shtml

wei1xiao4, On the contrary, I think this is exactly what our Conversation section is for: the users connecting in meaningful ways. I am really happy to see this, and I hope that some ChinesePod user can help Casie out!

Of course it would be ideal if CPOD could offer cassie a good c.v.-boosting, low-risk (ie., low-risk to CPOD) internship... it's like you've already had the benefit of having casie on probation for some time time now; I bet you have a pretty good idea by now as to her ability to "add value" where the average active CPOD user is concerned. Sorry for the naughty thoughts...

What constitutes an internship for credit? I've used translators in the past. I may be able to find someone on a business mission that needs help...translation, culture advice...help laowai get around. A CPOD internship seems obvious ...should be virtual...does it fit the requirement? My recommendation is any intership will do. I have the fondest memeories of an internship that has no relation to what I do today.

Hi everybody. I believe that casie is working on an English-language version of her c.v.; I'm betting that there'll be copies of that available soon. In brief, I understand that our cassie is a final year English Major at Fuzhou University's Sunshine College. Her college degree includes the nationally recognized (i) CET6, which is a proficiency test. The "6" refers to band 6 of that test, which she has just passed with flying colours, and which is the more rigorous level aimed at English Language majors. She also has -- or will soon have -- TEM4 certification, which is the "Test of English Major". I think cassie will be able to fill in the other blanks better than I can. But looking at her (overly modest and understated) Chinese-language cv, she is extremely active in student life, particularly in the kinds of activities which demand leadership, teamwork and -- something which we've all seen -- her ability to work with people. I do not see in her draft c.v., any reference to her contributions to CPOD, but I am quite sure that it will be something which can be worked in, sensibly, when the time comes. All the best, cassie!

But Casie, what if you did a market research project for C-Pod on how to penetrate the Chinese speaking market using yourself as an example? You never know how interesting an internship can be.

Here's some info on internships for Canada, if she wants to consider the option of interning outside of China: http://www.cafip.ca/info-students-outside-canada.html http://www.cic.gc.ca/ENGLISH/study/work-coop.asp
