Hmm.. our Chinese teacher taught us a good way of remembering the different uses of 的,得,地。 的 is usually followed by a noun, with the modifier coming before it. For example, 漂亮的朋友,好吃的东西。Of course, people usually don't follow the 的 with the noun if the context already makes it obvious. 得 is used to show a degree of an action, it's followed by adjectives. it's also pronounced dei, which means "to need", something like that (linguists, help me out here. hehe). For example, 跑步得很快 (paobu de hen kuai), 说的流利(shuo de liuli) 地 is followed by verbs, with adverbs placed before the 地. It's also pronounced as di (such as 新天地, xintiandi). So you can have like 慢慢地学习。
