Looking for a Movie and a TV Series

I am aware that the following descriptions are rather vague, so I don't expect that you will be able to help me. If you think you recognise one of the films described below, please let me know.

1. American action movie, features a well-known Chinese actor. Plot: A group of African Americans plot to break into a bank to steal diamonds, amongst those are some particularly valuable black diamonds. One of the criminals distracts the gay security officer. The character played by the Chinese actor thwarts their coup and beats one of the men up at a station, retrieving dome of the diamonds. The other thieves manage to escape on a metro train. I only watched up to that point...

2. Is there a Chinese TV series called "Hong Ri" or something to that effect? I remember seeing a few minutes of this series on a regional Chinese channel (not CCTV). The only thing that stuck in my mind is that a soldier made frequent appearances.

I hope I wont become the laughingstock of the CP community because of this odd post. ;-)
