Loading downloads into thrid party software

Hi -

I used to be able to use wavepad (an mp3 editor http://www.nch.com.au/) to make my own special lessons using downloads. I now find that with latter lessons wavepad does not seem to be able to load them. Did you guys do something to the files so they can't be edited?  For example "Chinese Medecine" dialogue I can load and edit "American Breakfast" I cannot.
