Upload those Avatars!

April 13, 2007, 07:35 AM posted in General DiscussionCome on people, I'm seeing way too many ChinesePod logo "avatars." Go on over to your profile page, scroll all the way to the bottom, click "Edit," and upload something better!
Thanks in advance...

April 14, 2007, 01:06 PMI am not sure if I really enjoy looking at my picture all the time. Maybe if I have some time I should colorate it and join the 蓝精灵-brigage alongside Bazza and John.

April 13, 2007, 08:01 AMGood on ya Bazza :-) With those colours you look like you're ready for the Saturday Show! Hey Ken, where's yours? You'd better do something soon or else John might take an unflattering snap when you're not looking!

April 13, 2007, 08:03 AMHow do you do paragraphs in this thing? Like this?? Maybe not...

April 13, 2007, 11:13 AMI just realized that AuntySue is Mandarin (àn tísù / 按提速 ) meaning something like: "to quickly push through". /I kid, I kid ...

April 13, 2007, 12:15 PMCan you see my avatar? Mine doesn't work... :( L.L. ChinesePod!!! :)

April 13, 2007, 12:26 PMHaha FuDaWei, yes indeed, but unfortunately it's a little amiguous, not to mention sneeze-like, and not at all my style. I've settled on 白坦白 which at the moment only shows on the Forum.

April 13, 2007, 12:32 PMTsinping, I guess you have to make your profile public. On the "Your profile" page, click the "Click here to update" button and then check "Maintain public profile?- Yes"

April 13, 2007, 07:32 PMI made this avatar for free on http://www.tektek.org/dream/index.php. I'm not entirely happy with it (you can't see my long ponytail!) . . . any other site suggestions? FYI, finding them by Google is not enough; I'd like referrals that are tried and true. Thanks! I mean, xie xie . . .

April 13, 2007, 07:56 AMI think I'll go with this one. :)

April 13, 2007, 10:12 PMI think it says "click here to update" now. (just pointing it out because it took me forever to find "edit!" or anything like that. I'm still pretty confused with this v3, I hope I get used to it soon!

April 14, 2007, 03:28 AMI have the same problem with these avatars. I just can't get my picture to appear. There is only text that says avatar... Yes - I have done that "Maintain public profile?" thingy. Don't know what to do next.

April 14, 2007, 03:31 AMExactly the same time when I posted my previous message my avatar picture started to work :)

April 14, 2007, 09:38 AMAvatar sounded, for some reason, like half god half human to me. The definition does give this feeling that this is a half something great and a half something else .... :P, whatever the direction this is coming from or going to. Well... on the web ... this could be something of you, you dare share! ;)

April 14, 2007, 12:56 PMActually got a picture made with my old CPod T-Shirt on (V2-logo!, rare collector's item now). Had to cut that out to conform with the merciless 110-110-requirement.

April 13, 2007, 10:00 PM敦禮 - I miss having the ability to use characters:( Until maybe we will be able to, I will go with one of my favorite foods from the east- man2toe. As for the avatar, until I get a picture of an man2toe, I will go with this fat rainbow trout I caught recently. Peace all, 敦禮

April 13, 2007, 07:50 AMFor anyone who's not used to avatars... originally avatars on the net were not supposed to be your own photo, it was supposed to be a picture of a cute or funny character, or perhaps an alter ego, or your favourite car, or any other small nice picture of something you like, to identify you but keep your full identity hidden. Then we got so friendly around here that we wanted our friends to see what we looked like, so now most of us are using a cut down photo of ourselves. You can play it either way, just upload some little picture to help us distinguish you from the others, then you can change it later if you don't like it. And for us oldies it's really good, because there's no rule about _when_ the photo was taken! :-)
