May 09, 2008, 04:10 PMIn The Jealous Friend we see Zhang Liang demonstrate his generous nature and Chen Li displays her careful selection of words to get a point across. Chen Qing also sounds like a cow in this dialogue.
I thought it was a bit outrageous for Chen Qing to say that "lili" was complaining about Zhang Liang's lateness... Chen Li asks ths Chen Qing if she's on a diet and that Zhang Liang is great at ordering as the dish (which is what???) is probably too big/expensive (since Zhang Liang is paying).
question, "ni zhege ren zhong se ji you" I understand the second half, but why is zhege ren there? can that not be omitted?
and a funny comparison betwene english and chinese culture is the idea of the "dian deng pao" against our concept of "the third wheel".

Lovers' Spat
Although the nature of some parts of the dialogue are the same we do see (following the turning point) Zhang Liang return to his more affectionate wordplay/courting, but this time he obviously get's a different reaction. He says "meitian zui kaixin de shihou jiu shi he ni he wo yiqi". This can be compared with "zhe she wo yi tian zui kuaile de shihou" - from Growing Affections.
So there may be a lull in the fierce passion between these two lovers but the desire is still there!
挺 - can this be replaced with "bijiao"?
Can you help me answer these questions Jimin! If not, 没关系! Any other comments about these dialogues feel free to post =]

A Fated Meeting Chen li and Zhang liang meet at the cafe and they are talking about their work and online forum... and Chen li said after work she has nothing to do so she goes online and when she is working she secretly go online because that forum thing is very interesting... Zhang liang also agrees with her and when he wants to say he's favourite forum... Mocha coffee which they ordered is coming...
Growing Affections Lili finishes work lately and go home with Zhang liang... They are talking about the food they ordered and Lili said that Zhang liang ordered too much food so they could not finished... but Zhang liang said if she likes that's fine... and he also worries about her because her house and work place is far... but she does not want to bother him to go home with her cause it's very tired... Zhang liang said that this is his most happiest time and start to talk about Lili's appearance... finally he said when he has to leave her he feels very sad...

The Jealous Friend Zhang liang work over time so come to restaurant lately... so Lili was keep complaning about that and Chen jing who is Lili's friend since they were in kindergarten... (they are so close so Lili calls her as Jingjing I guess...) "Zhe ge ren zhong se qing you. You le Zhang liang jiu wang le wo" (I'm not sure about this sentence)<- maybe it's she envy that lovers so say to Zhang liang that Lili might forget me or sth??? then, Zhang liang says that Lili always think about you when we go to nice place or eat delicious food and etc... (then I can't understand that third wheel) then, Jingjing wants to order lobster because she heard that this restaurant's special food is that(didao I guess) but Lili said to Jingjing that "Aren't you on diet?" and ask Zhang liang to order... Jingjing said that Lili worries about Zhang liang's money... Zhang liang said Chen jing is thin and no need to lose weight and they still will going to eat lobster... Lili asks to Jingjing "Are you ok today or not?" then Jingjing said that she eats lobster then it's good...
Lovers' Spat Lili and Zhang liang went to shopping and Lili keep trying many clothes and ask Zhang linag's opinion... then Zhang liang feels boring about that and Lili becomes angry... then Zhang liang said that he is most happy when he is with her... and Lili feels that as lie and wants to go home... Zhang liang apologise her and say that Lili is correct... he ask her to go upstairs and have a look the other clothes but Lili is angry so she said "You go and have a look!!!"
挺 this character that you ask about replaced with "bijiao" I don't think it can because when I find the meaning from dictionary it says it means straignt, support, excellent... so I don't think... but not really sure... and also what kind of questions did you have?/? I don't think I answered all... if I didn't let me know...

May 10, 2008, 03:47 PMLove Letter Zhang Liang is waiting Lili... because she is late... and Zhang Liang said he wanted to go and pick her up but Lili was worrying about his health... she ask him to eat more vitamin and Zhang Liang said Lili is his vitamin and he becomes very excited when he is with her... and they are talking about the letter Zhang Liang wrote to her... and Lili said she likes his honesty... then Zhang Liang said that he has only Lili in his heart...
I guess in this dialogue zhang Liang and Lili's relationship becomes more and more closer... Lili understands Zhang Liang's feeling...
I will do more tomorrow... so sleepy zzz

Zhangl Liang come and said that he recognise Liu Xiang from TV and ask Lili about how does she know him... then Lili finds out that Zhang Liang is bit jealous of him...
A Guy's Advise on Women Zhang Liang meet his friend called Zhun Hua and talk about his problem with Lili... He said Lili met his old boyfriend and he is very rich and nice... and he worries about that... and Zhun Hua said woman can cheat and he said who does not like that kind of nice man?/? Zhang Liang said Lili is not that type of person... but Zhun Hua said like that nice man want to find out nice girl and if she is ex-girlfriend it will be best... after he said that Zhang Liang agrees with Zhun Hua... Lili is such a nice person so many people can like her and Lili and that man was together before so now they can have feelings and he worries about Lili cause she is busy every day and does not go online and chat to him...
I did not know we have 9 dialogues... so I vetter need to do 2 more... T.T After we finish the summary of dialogue go on more depth with our one andrew!!!

Chen Jing ask Fei Fei why you think Zhang Liang is good... Fei Fei thinks Lili is lucky... and she envy of her friend Lili... she also says that Lili and Zhang Liang are not certain of their future yet so she has chance...
The Come-on Fei Fei and Zhang Liang work over time and Fei Fei ask hime to eat dinner together... and she talks about good side of Zhang Liang... and Zhang Liang thanks for her... Then Fei Fei said that was serious and nice person like Zhang Liang is getting fewer and fewer... nowadays many people's interest is money and material things... and zhang Liang agrees with her...
Finally... I did all summary of the dialogues... @.@ Anderw after you finish then we can discuss about our dialogue... *^^*

Ill just run thorugh the first few dialogues and point out any questions I have and any interesting points on the devewlopment of the characters.
I think its pretty funny how zhang liang uses every opportunity to convey what sort of person he is to chen li. For example he jokes around about his supposed 'good looks' and directs the conversation to work, where he conveniently mentions his hard working nature "wo cha bu duo tian tian jia ban". He also hints at his slightly rebellious nature by secretly accessing the forums whilst at work! Jimin, does this guy impress you?

In Growing Affections we are graced with a wonderful dialogue displaying the courtship between the two lovers, its very funny :).
question, chen li says "chi duo chi bu wan" did SHE not finish the food or did HE not finish the food?
also, as a not for somethign I noticed, zhang liang says "ni mei tian shang ban zheme yuan" which looked a bit weird at first. but realised it excludes an important phrase (if it were in English) ... "ni mei tian CONG JIA LI shang ban zheme yuan" because if you read in the context they are walking to chen li's home so zhang lian has an understanding of the distance from her place to her work.
oh and hahahaha at the lips and eyelashes niceties

I ask laoshi... about how many dialogues do we need to present on the day and she said two... so we need to decide which one we should do for other one...
We are doing "Lovers' Spat" and which one do you want to do?/? I think "The Jealous Friend","An Old Flame" need 3people to do so we can't do and "A Guy's Advise on Women" is dialogue between two men... so... not... suitable and "Scheming Girls" is dialogue between two girls so also not suitable...
we need to choose from "A Fated Meeting","Growing Affections","Love Letter","The Come-on"... So which one do you think is good?/? I think 3rd and last one is fine... *^^*
