Chinese Caligraphy

As a treat, my Chinese teacher gave us a brief introduction to caligraphy last week. It was a lot of fun but is a lot harder than it looks. Even attempting the individual components that make up the characters was a challenge in itself.

You can see my efforts on my blog.

Has anyone else attempted caligraphy?

I think we have a calligraphy set somewhere at home, belonging to my brother. I don't think I've ever attempted it though. Will have to dig it out.

Definitely worth doing. We brought back two sets for my brother and sister (both artists). Never thought I'd be interested in it. Might have to ask for the sets back. :P

Yes I had a teacher for a short time at work and she brought in the brushes and the ink we had to mix with water. Each stoke has a trick to it. It takes a while to get good at this. It can be quite striking when done right.
