At my college we have to write a junior and senior independent study and last year I translated from english-chinese and chinese-english both an American version of Cinderella and the Chinese version YeXian and discussed the universal collective unconscious we all have that makes certain stories fit relavant to two cultures that are unique in so many ways.

I wanted to continue with the same project this year and add more stories and possibly nursary rhymes or lullabies from each culture.  I was wondering if anyone had heard of or grew up with any stories, either from America or China that would be interesting to add to my project.

Also, I found the pinyin (below) from one Chinese lullaby, but there were no characters and I was unsure of how popular the lullaby was.  If anyone has the characters or has heard it before please let me know!

Aranagazoo, from your pinyin, I would guess the following:

小燕子穿花衣 (The sparrow wears its colorful feathers)

(Every Spring it comes her)

(I asked it why it always comes?)

(It replied, because Spring is so beautiful here.)

In simplified it should be:

小燕子穿花衣,

年年春天来这里,

我问燕子你为啥来,

燕子说这里春天最美丽。

I think that's right.
