October 10, 2008, 06:04 AMHi daizi,
Thanks for the post. That's awsome that you incorporate Chinesepod in the class. As a student myself (I'm a junior in college), I really like Chinesepod's Qingwen and Dear Amber. I was wondering if you use these two podcasts as cultural supplement in your classes?
Currently at Praxis Language, we are working to provide more tools for teachers like you. Do you have any suggestions for us? I know that if I was a teacher, I could use Chinesepod's groups as a forum for my students. For example, I could ask my students to listen to a lesson and answer a couple questions related t the lesson using groups. Do you think as a teacher that you could use group in your classes as a virtual meeting place for your students?

October 11, 2008, 12:18 AMI did start a group for Des Moines and Iowa as I didn't want to limit participation to my students. I have yet to make much use of it, but I will. Forums are especially great for students who are a little shy or otherwise hesitant to contribute in class.
As for suggestions, the addition of video would be welcome. Also, don't shy away from being repetitive, even at the more advanced levels. Massive amounts of repetition and the recycling of vocabulary, is the key to learning a new language. Have dozens of podcasts about the same or similar topic, that vary only slightly, with very limited new vocabulary.

October 14, 2008, 10:00 AMThank you for the comment. Also, just a quick question are you signed up as a teacher? If you're a teacher you can assign lessons to your students.

October 16, 2008, 12:08 AMNo, I'm not signed up as a teacher. How does one go about that?

October 17, 2008, 10:20 AMHi Daizi,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
To get teacher status, simply email chinesepod@gmail.com stating that you are interested in managing students through ChinesePod's Groups section.
Our team will update your subscription to teacher status, which will allow you to assign lessons to students within your group.
If you have any additional questions, please feel to post a comment or mail me through the ChinesePod messaging system.
Hope that helps,
Ross

October 09, 2008, 11:29 PMI teach in a high school in Des Moines, Iowa. I have over a hundred curious learners who love to get beyond the classroom. C-Pod is a good way to bring China to the U.S. I often throw into the mix a C-Pod lesson chosen by my students. I have also made use of the old Video HotPot episodes, especially the very funny #1 (shopping).
